Yes nostalgia is for geeks but I have to write this ode because Golden China Restaurant was one of the best restaurants I have ever dined with, whether with my mother or with my friends, and I just wanted to thank thank them for all the good memories made with their extensive and classically tasteful -literally!- menu, their amazing foods, their impeccable friendly sweet and polite service, their ambiance of serenity, and their unobtrusive passion for sharing Chinese culture through, again, the huge menu of heaping warm plates or take-out containers of the most obviously scrumptious meats and vegetables and rice and egg foo young, and hot pot soups you could ever hope to imagine let alone experience. I'm so sad that the possibility of enjoying yet again this restaurant and its offerings is now a bygone era. There was talk of reopening it this year so I can hope that the family who owned and ran it might read this and know they've got my vote, love and devotion. One time through the couple of years I lived on Pico-Robertson I held an intimate Christmas party with their take-out and my neighbors. It was a perfect hit! A moment in time which was good for the soul, to be sure, but I also drool at the remembrance of feasting. Thank you for the memories.

This restaurant was always a favorite of mine and my family's. The food was delicious and the service was great. Sadly it seems like it most likely won't be returning since the part of the strip mall it's in is still a hot mess since the fire. What a shame since they were a staple.

My wife and I discovered this restaurant about 11 years ago, when we first moved to Culver City, and it's become our go-to for the finest Chinese food at decent prices and portions. We're very saddened about the news of the recent fire that happened to the building a few weeks ago (second in 3 years?!?) Relieved to see the restaurant itself is looking fine, and can't wait to be able to sit down in the comfort of its dining room again. To the owners, who have come to feel like family, please keep us posted!

I found this place in a strip mall after getting my nails done a couple stores down. It was lunch time so I decided to go with the lunch special and was happy with my choice. The food portion was great value for how much food they piled on and it tasted like what you would get at a sit down restaurant. The fried rice was nicely seasoned and not too salty and the sauce for my beef and vegetables was delicious. I'll definitely be back to pick up some more lunch specials in the future.

What do you mean you have a whole vegetarian menu?! Y'all I've been on the hunt around LA for the best vegan orange chicken. Although my quest is only just beginning, I've really been looking for a good Chinese spot that offers it versus Thai which usually has some good veggie options. Preferably one that's close to home too....and I think I've found it with Golden China. The vegan orange chicken was fried perfectly and was not very doughy (had some before that just tastes like a donut in orange sauce ) or fried hard like I've found a lot of orange chicken at some of my favorite spots can tend to vary. The veggie chicken to fried outside ratio was nice. The sauce is very tasty too. The Vegetable Lo Mein was delicious as well, though not hard to screw that up I guess. Also the portions are on point here. They don't skimp out on that, so come hungry. All in all I've been back once before typing this review and it was still just as good. I got the Vegetable Fried Rice this time instead of Lo Mein and it was also great and a nice large size. Stop by if you haven't to try some of these dishes out!

Super delighted to have found a Chinese restaurant that offers a hearty vegan menu selection just around the corner. For my first visit I ordered Vegetable Chow Mein and Sweet & Sour Chicken, both vegan of course. What a delight, the flavors of americanized Chinese food that I haven't experienced since gaining compassion. Very well done if I may say so. I will return again to try many more of their vegan offerings and will tell my friends!

Our Favorite Veg Dishes in order: * Sweet sour pork * sweet sour fish * orange chicken * veg sizzling soup (plain, nothing special but a solid, light, soup) * fried mushroom (lil soggy) * chow fun (fat noodles) * ma po tofu * hot bean sauce fish (sauce wasn't bad, but was a tad bit salty and was hard to eat large quantities of it) * Mongolian beef (I liked the flavor but my bf didn't like the beef strips) * Kung Pao chicken
